A Glimpse of Italy
Piazza Venezia, Rome:Derisively called the "Wedding Cake" for its stark white layers. Inaugurated in 1911, the monument honors the king who united Italy in 1870. The eastern edge of the piazza was once the papal residence and later the headquarters of the fascist leader Benito Mussolini.
